General Information
Mosquito division is for youth who are 10 and 11 years of age, and is the first division in which players begin to pitch the ball. A real baseball is used for the first time. In addition, a catcher is used and round robin playoffs follow the regular season. Players are not permitted to sit out for extended periods of time. All players are kept in the batting lineup and rotated by position.
Teams are usually 12-15 players. At this level, games will be defaulted if the required number of players are not at the field at game time. Eight players are needed to start a game and seven to finish.
Mount Pearl Minor Baseball recommends that when one team is short players at the beginning of a game, that they borrow players from the opposition, or both teams may be combined to play a game. A practice session may also take place instead of a game.
